Have you always wanted to publish a book, but things keep getting in the way? This is your year to write that book you’ve always wanted to. No more excuses, everyone!
If you go to your bookshelf and don’t see something you want to read, it’s your turn to write! It’s what got me started, after all and I’m glad. It's the beginning of a brand new year, and if you’re still putting off writing something you’ve always dreamed of, ask yourself why?
Here are the common excuses and answers to them!
(1) I don't know where to start.
No one ever does. But there's only one cure- open that page and start. Often, writers write two chapters before they actually start chapter one. If you start the momentum, even if it's rubbish, that will turn into good material a few pages in. You'll see!
(2) I don't have time.
Not having time is not actually a real thing. Everyone has time if the task is a priority. So, right now, writing is not a priority. If you want to do it, you will make time for it.
(3) I don't think I'll be any good.
You don't know unless you try, and the only way to get better is practise. So, pen to paper and have fun.
(4) It takes so long.
Again, if you really truly want to give it a go, you'll find the time and put the hard yards in. If you don't, ask yourself- do you really want to write a book?
(5) I'll never get published.
There are hundreds of options today of getting your books out there. Don't let that be an excuse.
(6) I have no clue what I want to write about.
Brain storm. Write a bit and brainstorm again. Every single person has a very least one story in them they've always wanted to share. Just start by aiming at that story and the rest will flow from there.
(7) I'm not formally educated in writing
... please. That one's a cop-out. No one needs a degree to write. I have a Marketing and Law degree, yet I write fantasy and romance fiction.
What other excuses have you come up with that are preventing you from achieving your writing goals? Write them in the below comment box and I'll tell you why it's not an excuse at all!
