How long does copywriting take?
It's a very common and fair question, but the answer is a little difficult because every project is different. However, what I do know is that it's very easy to underestimate because it's a specialised kind of writing. So, how do you know how long it takes to write strong copy? Read more below.
Consider this.
Your business needs a piece of content written, whether it's for an article, a video or even an audio Podcast, because you need to communicate to your audience to raise awareness and generate interest. So, you give this to a copywriter and they get started. It's just writing, right? It shouldn't take that long. Well, that's the issue here. As I said, it's very easy to underestimate how long quality copywriting can take to compose. As a result, most people think it takes a lot less time than it really does. Want to know why? It's because copywriting is not just any writing. Copywriting is a very specialised form, with specific objectives that it needs to achieve. It's not a scribbled down note or a passing sentence. It needs to engage and provoke a high level of response from an audience, and this is no mean feat. It's easy to see how people can under-appreciate the time it takes. It's because everyone writes every single day. We write emails, memos, notes, messages, social media posts and so on. We've studied how to communicate ever since we were children and we know how to form sentences and get our general point across. But this is the very reason why it's easy to take copywriting for granted. So, what makes copywriting different? Copywriting, when used for Marketing and business purposes, is the text written to convey a message to inspire customer action. It's about selling a concept, idea or product by tapping into a customer demographic's pain point and offering them a solution that compels them to act.
