Just over two hours ago, the Australian Federal Government announced that Australia's Carbon Tax has been repealed and our targets to reduce our carbon pollution by 2020 and 2050 have been abolished.
What a sad day, and what an absolute disgrace.
I know this is a political sore point, and I expect opinions on this to be divided, however I have been scanning Social Media, and, in amongst all of my opposing rants, I have noticed that I am by far not standing alone in my disgust!
I just took this screenshot of a poll currently running in the Sydney Morning Herald (17/7/2014), inviting a public response to the carbon tax being axed, and it seems that most people are having the same reaction I am.
By removing the Carbon Tax, Australia has taken away all organisational incentive to improve their operations to strive to pollute less! Worse still is that, if you look up all of the expected outcomes of this repeal, the monetary savings for Australians is so little and the potential environmental damage is so high!!!
So, basically, the Carbon Tax opposition, who's argument lies in the fact that it will put more money back into the average Australian's pocket, really isn't real. It's a political agenda push on a hot topic.

I saw one Politician tweet that it's a victory to Australians, who will save a few hundred a year. Is that really what we are willing to trade for the future of our grandchildren?! Is that all it's worth?
I just think, if you are willing to start a family, then you must be willing to do part to secure their future.
Very disappointing! Australia has become the first country in the world to abolish a price on carbon, and what was once a country leading the positive charge to a better tomorrow for our children and our children's children, has now fallen all the way back to the back of the line. How shameful.
Australia's PM, Tony Abbott, has promised a better solution to replace the Carbon Tax, and whilst I will wait patiently to see what manifests, let's face it- his poor track record speaks for itself. I wouldn't hold my breath for a better solution from him any time soon.
As Senator Penny Wright tweeted: Dear children & grandchildren, I am sorry. We did our very best. But we will continue to work & work for your future.
