It came out today in an interview this month that Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling regretted writing the relationship between the two main characters, Ron and Hermione.

I have a huge issue with this!!! Fine, she is the writer and can do whatever she wants but...
GRRR this woman... as BRILLIANT as she is, I REALLY HATE when she comes randomly out YEARS after the books and adds extra stuff like this. Stuff that detracts from the book 'after-the-fact', just because she had a good think and decided that what she wrote shouldn't be in the final product- content which created favourable foundations during our reading experience of the series.
I believe a writer should keep this non-essential context stuff to herself, as now, when you reread or think back upon the story, you can't help but think differently and question the conclusions you made based what you had read. The times when we read these two characters interacting and watched the romance build, now after this interview, make us think "perhaps all of that was false". I know, as a reader, we shouldn't, but come on, it's very hard not to really. It really taints the whole relationship that she created for readers.
Rowling did this once before and it annoyed me then too. Years after the books, she just drops a casual "Oh Dumbledore was gay". It adds or detracts nothing from the story and wasn't included within the texts, so why add stuff afterwards and distort the content!? It would be like her saying years after the books that Hermione had a belly-ring under her shirt the whole time- it changes how we as readers perceive the characters, in an illegitimate way.
It would be like if Tolkien, years after this books were released saying "Oh, the ring technically was a rose gold". So what?! Or him saying "Oh after all of the years I've decided that I believe I should've written Saruman's character as a good guy the whole time... all that stuff about his betrayal was an error... sorry fans".
Sorry for the rant... It just feels like Rowling is missing the books and feels this need to keep dropping random, irrelevant information that is almost undermining the books she wrote... why do that?! Leave the legacy alone and let us enjoy it based on what you wrote, not what you feel live divulging years later.
